„Enabling legislative tailwind at the benefit of company concerns requires the management of Public Affairs, Regulatory Affairs & Regulatory Intelligence by an all-in-one approach. Though a lot of experts are aware of this fact, only a few are able to do so."

  • Public Affairs

Building long-term relationships with policy makers/regulators by putting complex company concerns into a political way of thinking, forms part of my job profile. However contrary to most of my peers, this certain skill does not formulate the one and only capability of my discipline but the starting of an even more-dimensional skill set!

  • Regulatory Affairs

Transposing company concerns into some precise legal-handwriting which serves as a guidance for policymakers and regulators alongside the legislative process, represents one of my very "stand-alone assets".

This puts me into the situation to operate and to keep appointments towards policymakers and regulators in the most flexible and well-informed way. Where others might be reliant on the assistance of legal department staff or/and external law firms I do operate in a self-starting manner.

In being familiar with the form & content requirements of the legislative procedure within the European Commission, the European Parliament and by streamlining company concerns with prevailing political mindset, I am able to provide political advice in the most customized way!

  • Regulatory Intelligence

Legislative developments can usurp business models overnight but are also able to entrench new ones. The possibility to identify these patterns of disadvantages or vis a versa first-mover advantages forms part of my portfolio as well.

By furthermore analytically combining legislative development with new business trends (such as Blockchain, DeFi, OpenData, SustainableFinance/ESG etc.), I am also able to channel this knowledge into the right business strategy!

TOP 3 GLOBAL RETAILER - staying ahead of the curve

Currently I do work for a world-wide operating retail chain as Head of Public Affairs.

This allows me to utilize my expertise of consuming, interpretating and explaining the impact of new laws and challenges alongside hybrid forms of multi-level legislation across countries and markets.

The latter goes along with a deep understanding on how European legislation interacts with its implementations in the Member States including possible forms of gold-plating and how to react swiftly alongside Public Affairs project teams operating across markets and time zones.

EUROPEAN ELECTIONS 2019 - running as candidate

In 2019 I did run for the European Elections for the German Conservatives in Rhineland-Palatinate as the top candidate of the State Capital of Mainz. As someone who puts things into perspective not only from a financial service sector perspective but also from other policy fields, this was a fruitful chance to do so.

ASSET MANAGEMENT - building up a strong expertise

I have been working for more than ten years for one of the major asset management companies in Germany, where I brought in my knowledge of Public Affairs & Regulatory Affairs on the European level – as Head of Brussels Office and previously as Manager Executive Board Office.

By combining these disciplines with an in-depth analysis how regulatory change impacts the firm at enterprise and at a product/service level put me into the situation to build up a strong expertise in Regulatory Intelligence on top. With an outstanding track-record my work has positively shaped the legislative environment in which my former employer operates today.

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT - starting as an advisor

I started my career as parliamentary advisor to the former Chairman of the Special Committee on the Financial, Economic and Social Crisis (CRIS) and former Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), Wolf Klinz, within the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg.

My job was to work out legislative responses to the financial crisis by also taking into account legitimate concerns from the financial service sector. This today puts me into the situation to take legislative challenges into account not only from a „helicopter-perspective“ but also from a technical working. Namely by transposing them into the necessary legal handwriting as a centerpiece of political advice.

The latter did not only include the legal translation of company concerns into the legislative procedure contentwise but also the process of creating, sharing, tabling, registering, ordering and verifying amendments focused on formatting (which today serves as reference for the web-based amendment authoring tool of the European Parliament called AT4AM).
